Maquis Lien - Red Wine from Colchagua Valley, Chile
Maquis Lien is the result of our endeavor to produce a wine of excellence that captures the essence of Los Maquis estate, the unique place where it originates. Maquis Lien is crafted from grapes grown at a unique vineyard site in the heart of the Colchagua Valley and is a blend of Syrah, Carmenere, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. No two vintages are alike, as the percentage of each varietal used changes from year to year in order to highlight the unique qualities of that year as well as the exceptional terroir of this special plot of land that the Hurtado family has cultivated for over 100-years.
Each vintage is comprised of the finest fruit from the vineyards, the blend expressing the unique story of the vineyards and terroir from that year and captures the intensity and fruitness of the varietals. Maquis Lien is a distinctive wine that is sophisticated and stylish, with deep floral, fresh fruit and mineral aromas that fill the nose while juicy black fruit, river stones and savory spices envelope the palate. A "Super Chilean" wine, Maquis Lien combines power and supple fruit with elegant refined tannins.
Located at the confluence of two rivers, the Chimbarongo and the Tinguiririca rivers flow on either side of the property. Throughout the centuries, these two rivers have formed very well-drained alluvial soils which make it possible to produce concentrated grapes, of powerful and elegant tannins. As a result, Maquis estate resembles an island—unlike any other winery in the world.
