Red wine grapes from Vina Maquis vineyards in Chile

Maquis Lien Winemaking

The vinification of Maquis Lien seeks to express the characteristics of the place and, therefore, the origin of grapes. All work in the vineyards is focused on rescuing and respecting that origin.

The Mapuche people were the indigenous inhabitants of Chile who named the Colchagua Valley. Noted silver craftsmen, the Mapuche also were excellent farmers. The winemaking philosophy follows that of the native people to this region: start with a high quality product that is hand harvested and hand crafted. With exceptional fruit to work with, minimal techniques let the terroir and purity of fruit shine through. A hands-on approach is taken to cultivating the vineyards, allowing them to fully express the fruits' qualities and characteristics.

"Maquis Lien is not a recipe - it exists. We just try to discover its best expression every vintage."
- Juan Alejandro Jofré, Chief Winemaker
